In general Turmeric may have the effect of making medications more available in the blood stream and can cause problems if the effects are greater than prescribed. Please exercise caution if you are taking prescription blood-thinning medications such as; Warfarin (Coumadin), or Clopidogrel (Plavix), among others.
Turmeric may interfere with the action of the following medications, so please consult your physician if you are taking the following:
Cimetidine (Tagamet)
Famotidine (Pepcid)
Ranitidine (Zantac)
Esomeprazole (Nexium)
Omeprazole
Lansoprazole (Prevacid)
A four-hour gap in-between medications and turmeric should be maintained.
